AWS consulting services

We give you a clear view of your Amazon Web Services (AWS) setup before you change it or move more work into it. We start with the application and the reason for the change. You get a review or migration plan, with cloud costs separate from the engineering work.

Price on request · reply within one working day

A decision you can act on: what to keep, what to change and what still needs checking.

A migration plan when you need one: trial steps, cutover checks and a recovery route.

Cloud costs kept visible: engineering work separated from your AWS bill.

What you get

The deliverables follow the work you choose:

  • For an AWS audit, an inventory of the reviewed resources and a list of findings with priorities.
  • For cost work, a view of the charges and usage assumptions that need attention.
  • For a migration, a map of application dependencies and a proposed destination setup.
  • A trial migration and cutover checklist when implementation is in the estimate.
  • A written plan for backups and recovery, with a named owner for each duty.
  • Configuration files, check results and instructions for the people taking over.

A review gives you findings and recommendations. Applying them or building new cloud features is implementation work, estimated separately. For a public website move, the plan also identifies address, access and analytics checks; ongoing SEO remains separate.

What the cost depends on

We estimate from the systems involved and the decisions you need to make.

  • Whether the work is a review, migration or implementation.
  • The applications, data stores and external dependencies involved.
  • Current documentation and the access needed to inspect the setup.
  • Data transfer and the testing needed before cutover.
  • The interruption your business can accept during the move.
  • Backup, recovery and monitoring requirements.
  • Training and any support after the handover.

AWS usage charges and other provider fees go through your accounts, apart from our engineering work. A migration may temporarily run both environments. A move to AWS can raise or lower your bill, depending on the workload. We do not estimate savings before looking at the usage.

We answer every inquiry within one working day. The schedule depends on access, application dependencies and the testing and cutover window you approve.

Your AWS account stays in your company's name. We define access permissions and confidentiality terms before inspecting the environment, and review access at handover. We pick specialists for your setup, ours and contractors we have worked with. CyberLab answers for the result.

What is included and what is not

Included

  • Reviewing the environment and documenting its dependencies.
  • Findings and recommendations for the review you commission.
  • Planning and testing the migration when it is in the estimate.
  • Implementing only the cloud changes covered by that estimate.
  • Operating instructions and a handover to your responsible staff.

Not included

  • AWS usage charges and outside software licenses.
  • Application redevelopment beyond the migration.
  • Formal compliance assessments and legal advice.
  • Round-the-clock monitoring or support: not part of this service.
  • SEO campaigns or other ongoing marketing work.

Before any change in production, you approve the plan and the interruption window and decide who can stop the move.

When you need this

  • Your AWS bill is hard to connect to the applications you run.
  • Nobody has a current map of the environment or its access rights.
  • A planned application change needs a cloud setup decision.
  • You are considering a move to AWS and need to check the tradeoffs.
  • A migration needs a trial run and a recovery plan before cutover.

How the work goes

What you have after each step

  1. Step 1. Review the current setup and goal

You get an inventory of the reviewed systems and a list of open questions. You explain why the change is needed and provide controlled access or the records needed for a review.

  2. Step 2. Plan the target and checks

You get recommendations or a migration plan, with usage cost assumptions separate from engineering. You approve the plan, recovery responsibilities and any acceptable interruption.

  3. Step 3. Test before switching

For a migration, you get trial results and a list of issues to resolve. We check application behavior and the moved data. Your application owner confirms the business workflow before a production move.

  4. Step 4. Finish the work and hand over

For a review, you get the findings and a walkthrough. For a migration, you approve cutover after the trial checks pass and get post-move check results.

How we can work together

Pick the form that fits the task. We suggest one after the first conversation.

  • Consultation or audit

For when you want a second opinion on a plan, a system or a quote before you commit. You get a written review with recommendations and an estimate of the next step.

  • Fixed-scope project

This works when the requirements can be written down before work starts. You get the agreed scope for the agreed price. Anything new goes through an updated estimate first.

  • Time and materials

For when the scope will change as you learn, as with research or a new product. You pay for the time spent, and we review the plan with you as the work goes.

  • Support after launch

Your system is already live and needs updates, fixes and monitoring. We agree a monthly arrangement and a list of what it covers.

Platforms and tools we work with

Amazon Web Services, with Docker and Jenkins for builds and releases. Moves between AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Hetzner.

We choose the platform from the task, and the list shows what we use most often.

Who this is for, and when it is too early

The review is useful when you need an outside look at AWS or have a concrete reason to consider moving there. You need someone who can explain the application and approve infrastructure decisions.

If the current hosting meets your needs and there is no defined problem, a migration may add cost without helping. If the problem is manual deployments on an otherwise suitable setup, DevOps services may be the smaller job.

Review the setup, improve it or migrate?

OptionWhen it fitsWhat to settle first
Review the current AWS setupYou need to understand costs, access or operating risks before decidingThe review boundary and access to reliable usage information
Improve the current environmentA known issue has a bounded fix on the existing platformThe change, its verification and the recovery route
Migrate to AWSA business or application need justifies changing the hosting environmentDependencies, expected running costs and an acceptable cutover plan

The recommendation can be to keep the current setup.

Frequently asked questions

Review and costs

What does an AWS audit give us?
Findings about the resources and operating questions within the review, with priorities and next actions. The review names what was inspected and what could not be checked.
Can you examine why our AWS bill has grown?
Yes, as a cost review. We compare charges with the usage and resources behind them, then identify changes to investigate.
Can we commission a review without a migration?
Yes. The deliverable can stop at findings and recommendations. Implementing changes or moving workloads requires separate approved work.

Access and responsibilities

Do you need unrestricted access to our AWS account?
We define permissions around the task. A review can start with limited inspection access; implementation needs separate permissions and your approval for the planned changes.
Who owns the AWS account and pays its bills?
The AWS account is in your company's name, and AWS charges go to you, not through us. Our fee for the engineering work is separate.
How are confidential infrastructure details handled?
We set confidentiality and access terms before the work. The handover documents the setup without including secrets, and access is reviewed when the work ends.

Migration and recovery

What does a trial migration need to prove?
That the application can run with its required dependencies and that the moved data is usable. We record gaps before proposing a production cutover.
Can the move happen without any interruption?
That depends on the application and how it writes data. We plan the acceptable interruption with you rather than promise an uninterrupted move before reviewing the system.
What if the new environment fails after cutover?
The plan defines when to stop and how to recover. It also covers records created after the switch, because returning to the old environment can otherwise lose new data.

Operating after the change

Who is responsible for backups after the move?
The handover names the owner and the restore procedure. A restore test is part of the work only when it is in the estimate.
When can the old environment be retired?
After the post-move checks and the recovery period defined in the plan. We identify dependencies still using it before you approve retirement and removal of its data.
Does migration include ongoing AWS management?
No. The handover names who watches the setup and who to call when something breaks. Ongoing management can be discussed as separate work.
