Why publishers leave

The 6 reasons managed networks don't fit small publishers

📉
You don't meet the traffic minimum
Since February 19, 2026 new Ezoic publishers need 250,000+ monthly users to join (Ezoic support KB, 2026). Mediavine and Setupad sit even higher. Small and growing sites get turned away. We have no traffic minimum.
💸
You give up 25–40% of your ad revenue
Revenue share models take a permanent cut. A site making €2,000/mo gives up €500–800 every month. Over 12 months that's €6,000–10,000 gone — for setup work that takes us days, not months.
🔒
Your account is locked behind their MCC
Many managed networks require DNS control or AdSense MCC access. Leaving is painful. Our clients keep full ownership — we work through MCC access that you revoke the moment we part ways.
🌍
Support is English-only
Ezoic, Mediavine, Setupad all default to English support. Polish, Ukrainian, Russian-speaking publishers wait days for answers. We support in 4 languages natively.
Onboarding takes 4–8 weeks
Managed networks run their own optimization cycles with their own timelines. Months of waiting for approval, integration and warm-up means months of monetization revenue you don't see. Our audit ships in 3 business days.
🤷
You can't use them if you're small
If you're a niche blog, local publisher, or under 25K PV/mo — managed networks simply refuse you. We set up AdSense + Ad Manager directly on your account from day one.

What changed in 2026

February 2026: Ezoic closed the door on small publishers

Since February 19, 2026, new publishers need 250,000+ monthly users to join Ezoic (Ezoic support KB, 2026). For most niche blogs, local sites and growing publishers, that door is now shut.

Existing smaller sites are grandfathered in. But that status is fragile: remove the Ezoic integration for more than 7 days and it is lost permanently, so touching your setup is a one-way move.

If you were rejected, or you are wary of touching a grandfathered setup, a direct AdSense + Ad Manager stack that you own is the exit that does not depend on anyone's threshold. There is nothing to qualify for, and nothing to lose if you decide to move again later.

Which route fits your traffic

The right setup depends on where you are now

There is no single answer for every site. Here is what we typically build at each stage, and the one honest case where a managed network makes more sense than owning the stack yourself.

Under 10K PV/mo

Direct AdSense setup plus GDPR consent. No network will take you at this size anyway, so we get you monetizing cleanly on your own account.

10K–50K PV/mo

AdSense tune-up plus a CMP and ads.txt hygiene, adding Google Ad Manager once you cross roughly 25K so more demand competes for each slot.

50K–300K PV/mo

Google Ad Manager with Open Bidding so AdSense has to compete for every impression against 3 to 6 exchange partners, all on your account.

300K+ PV/mo

The full stack on your own accounts. Or, if you would genuinely rather outsource ad ops entirely, a managed network is a legitimate choice at this scale, and we will say so.

What it costs to move

Fixed fee, paid once

Essential (from €199) covers AdSense on your account with a GDPR/TCF v2.3 CMP, ads.txt and Consent Mode v2. Professional (from €399) adds basic Ad Manager with ad units. Full stack (€590 to €750) adds Open Bidding with 3 to 6 exchange partners, and Prebid where it helps. GDPR consent is always included for EU sites, and no tier carries a revenue share.

How a migration runs

Four steps, minutes of downtime

1
Audit your current setup

We review your existing network, tags and consent state before anything moves.

2
Build the parallel stack

A fresh AdSense + Ad Manager stack goes up on your own accounts, in parallel, with no impact on live traffic.

3
Validate tags on staging

We confirm every ad unit and consent signal fires correctly before touching production.

4
Switch over in one window

The DNS and ad-tag swap happens in a short window, usually 5 to 15 minutes, with the old integration reverted in the same pass so there is no double-serving.

The build itself typically ships in 3 to 7 business days; the switchover is the only moment traffic is affected, and it is measured in minutes.

Roughly one in five calls end with us saying "not yet, come back at X traffic." A fit check is genuinely two-way, so you leave with an honest answer either way.

What we do differently

Setup once. Own forever.

Fixed price — €199 to €750 one-time
Audit €199, setup from €199, full ad-stack buildout up to €750. You pay once. You keep 100% of ad revenue forever.
No traffic minimum
We work with sites at 1,000 pageviews/month as readily as with 1,000,000. Small publishers are our core audience.
Your AdSense / Ad Manager — your account
We set up monetization on your existing (or new) Google accounts via MCC access. You own everything. We can leave tomorrow — you keep running.
GDPR / TCF v2.3 included
EU publishers need IAB TCF v2.3 consent — we implement Google-certified CMP + Consent Mode v2 as part of setup. Ezoic charges extra or pushes their own CMP.
4 languages of support
EN, UK, RU, PL — natively. We are an EU (Estonia) registered business with VAT invoices, DPA under GDPR.
Google Partner since 2015
10 years setting up AdSense, Ad Manager, and troubleshooting policy blocks for publishers. Direct access to Google Product Experts network.

The honest exception

When a managed network IS the better choice

We sell setup, not ideology. There are real cases where staying with, or joining, a managed network beats owning the stack yourself.

You fit a network's niche and bar

If you qualify for something like Mediavine's traffic and content requirements and you want zero-touch optimization plus their publisher community, that is a legitimate fit.

You genuinely don't want to own ad ops

At 300K+ pageviews, if you would rather never think about ad operations again, paying a share for a fully outsourced setup can be a rational trade of margin for time.

We will tell you this on the free call. About one in five calls end with "stay where you are for now," and that is a real answer, not a sales tactic.

EU publisher?

Consent is included scope, not an add-on

US platforms tend to treat consent as an extra. We implement a Google-certified CMP with IAB TCF v2.3 and Consent Mode v2 as part of the setup, whichever tier you choose.

You work with an EU-registered company (CyberLab.Team OÜ, Estonia), get a VAT invoice and a DPA under GDPR on request, and support in EN, UK, RU and PL from people rather than a ticket queue.

After setup

What maintenance actually remains

Once the stack is live, the ongoing work is light. Checking ads.txt and the Policy Center is something a self-managing publisher can handle in well under an hour a month (a practitioner estimate, not a guarantee), plus a seasonal ad-density review before Q4.

If you would rather not touch any of it, an optional fixed-fee monthly management engagement is available. It is never a percentage of your revenue.

What does a migration look like in practice?

A niche content publisher came to us grandfathered on a managed network, nervous about touching anything because pulling the integration would void that status permanently. They kept most of their ad revenue going to the network's share and wanted to know whether owning the stack would actually net more before they moved.

We started with an audit of their current tags, consent state and account access, then built a parallel AdSense and Ad Manager stack on their own Google accounts without touching the live site. We validated every ad unit and the TCF v2.3 consent signal on a staging build, then did the DNS and ad-tag switchover in a single short window, reverting the old integration in the same pass so nothing double-served. They kept full ownership; we worked through MCC access they could revoke at any point.

Anonymized example of our process, not a promise of results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I switch from Ezoic/Mediavine/Setupad?
You switch if (1) you want to keep 100% of your ad revenue rather than giving up 25–40% forever, (2) you want to own your AdSense/Ad Manager account, (3) you do not need their managed optimization because you now have the structure in place. Once your stack is set up properly, ongoing maintenance is low — paying a revenue share in perpetuity for work already done is what we are an alternative to.
Is it true Ezoic no longer accepts small publishers?
Effective February 19, 2026, new Ezoic publishers need 250,000+ monthly users to join, per Ezoic's own support documentation. Smaller existing sites are grandfathered in, and Ezoic runs a limited Incubator programme for growing sites. If you were rejected, or never met the new bar, the practical route is a direct AdSense + Ad Manager stack on your own account, which has no threshold at all. We set that up for you as a fixed fee.
I'm grandfathered on Ezoic under 250K users: should I stay or switch?
Honestly, staying can be the right call for some sites, and we will tell you so on the free call. One thing to weigh: removing the Ezoic integration for more than 7 days permanently voids your grandfathered status (Ezoic support KB, 2026), so the decision is one-way. Because of that we audit whether a direct stack would net you more BEFORE you touch anything on Ezoic. No pressure either way.
Can you guarantee higher RPM than Ezoic/Mediavine?
No, and anyone who promises that is lying. RPM depends on your niche, geography, content quality, and page structure — not primarily on the ad network. What we can say is that you keep 100% of whatever RPM you achieve. If a managed network delivers €20 RPM and takes 30%, you net €14. With our setup, you keep €18–20 (minor differences from direct demand access).
I only have 5,000 pageviews/mo. Will managed networks reject me?
Most will. Since February 19, 2026 new Ezoic publishers need 250,000+ monthly users to join (Ezoic support KB, 2026); Mediavine and Setupad set the bar higher still. We have no minimum. We set up AdSense directly on your site, and when you grow to roughly 25K+ PV/mo we can add Ad Manager + Open Bidding for higher fill rates.
What exactly do you set up?
Depending on tier: AdSense account creation / compliance audit (from €199), Ad Manager (GAM) setup with ad units and Open Bidding (from €199), GDPR/TCF v2.3 consent integration, ads.txt, consent mode v2, revenue tracking in GA4. We cover the full EU-compliant monetization stack in one fixed fee.
What if my AdSense is suspended?
We've restored dozens of Merchant Center and AdSense suspensions since 2015. Process: audit the reason (policy, invalid traffic, misrepresentation), fix root cause, prepare detailed appeal, work with Google Support through reinstatement. As Google Partners and Product Experts we know the internal review flow.
What happens if I don't like your work?
Your account stays yours. You revoke our MCC access and we're gone. No lock-in, no data loss, no history reset. Your AdSense/Ad Manager account, your publisher policies, your analytics, your ads.txt — all remain exactly as they are, under your control.
I'm already on Ezoic — can you migrate me?
Yes. Migration is a one-time project: audit your current Ezoic setup, create your direct Ad Manager + AdSense stack, implement header bidding (Open Bidding or Prebid), switch DNS and ad tags during a maintenance window. Typical downtime is minutes, not days. We have migrated publishers from Ezoic, AdThrive, and Mediavine.
Do you offer ongoing optimization like Ezoic does?
Not as a revenue-share retainer, but yes — we offer monthly management for publishers who want hands-on work. Fixed monthly fee, no % of revenue. Most of our clients use us for setup only and self-manage afterward — the setup is the hard part.
Can you migrate my site with zero downtime?
Practically yes — typical downtime is measured in minutes, not hours. We prep the new AdSense + Ad Manager stack in parallel, validate tags on a staging build, then do the DNS and ad-tag switchover in a short maintenance window (usually 5–15 minutes of mixed traffic). Ezoic DNS revert and ad-tag swap happen in the same window so there is no double-serving.
What if my site grows past 50K PV/mo — do I outgrow your setup?
No — you grow into more of it. At 25K–50K PV/mo we typically add Google Ad Manager alongside AdSense, with Open Bidding and 3–6 exchange partners so AdSense has to compete for every impression. Same account, same site, no re-onboarding — we just extend the stack. No revenue share appears at any traffic level. Ever.
Do you charge a setup fee AND revenue share?
No. Setup fee only. We never take a percentage of your ad revenue — not at launch, not after you scale, not ever. That is the entire point of this service. You pay €199–750 once (or a flat monthly fee if you want ongoing management), you keep 100% of what AdSense and Ad Manager pay out. No revenue share has ever been on our pricing sheet.
What stack do you build — just AdSense or full Ad Manager?
Depends on your tier and traffic. Essential (from €199): AdSense setup on your account + GDPR/TCF v2.3 CMP + ads.txt + consent mode v2. Professional (from €399): AdSense + basic Ad Manager with ad units. Full stack (€590–750): AdSense + Ad Manager + Open Bidding with 3–6 exchange partners + Prebid if relevant. GDPR/TCF v2.3 CMP is always included for EU sites regardless of tier.
Is there a free audit before I commit?
Yes — a free 15-minute consultation to check fit. We look at your traffic, niche, current monetization, and EU compliance status, then tell you honestly whether our setup will pay off for you or whether you are better off staying on Ezoic/Mediavine for now. No obligation, no sales pressure. Roughly one in five calls end with us saying "not yet, come back at X traffic."
How do you handle invalid traffic (bot clicks) that could trigger AdSense suspension?
We install Google's invalid-traffic detection signals, configure ad-unit level filtering in AdSense, and monitor IVT reports in GSC and AdSense weekly for the first month. If we see abnormal CTR, traffic spikes from unexpected geographies, or self-click patterns we flag it before Google does. Proactive policy-compliance review is cheaper than an AdSense suspension appeal — we have handled plenty of both.
What's included in ongoing management vs one-time setup?
One-time setup = full stack build, configuration, testing, handover with documentation. You own everything at the end. Ongoing management (optional, separate engagement) = monthly optimization cycles, A/B testing ad placements, new Open Bidding partners as they become relevant, policy monitoring, quarterly revenue review. Most clients take setup only and self-manage — that's why we price it as a real product, not a subscription trap.
Do you resell AdX or are you a Google MCM partner?
No. We build AdSense + Ad Manager with Open Bidding on your own Google accounts, not a reseller relationship. If your scale genuinely needs Google AdX, we will say so plainly, and that route goes through a Google MCM partner rather than us. We would rather point you there than pretend to be something we are not. Deep setup mechanics live on our dedicated pages: AdSense setup and Ad Manager setup.
How is this different from hiring a Fiverr or Upwork freelancer?
No disrespect to freelancers, but the comparison is about scope and liability. You get an EU-registered company (CyberLab.Team OÜ) with a VAT invoice and a DPA under GDPR on request, support in four languages, a documented handover, and accountability after delivery rather than a one-off gig that ends the day the task is marked complete. If something breaks a month later, there is a company to call.
Can I start on your setup and join Mediavine or Raptive later?
Yes. A clean AdSense + Ad Manager stack on your own account is exactly what those networks audit at application time, so it works in your favour, not against you. Nothing about our setup locks you in or blocks a later move, because you own every account and every tag. If you cross their thresholds and prefer to hand off, you can, with no rip-out on our side.
