What we check

AI-era technical & crawlability check
We verify whether your body text is in the raw HTML before JavaScript runs, check X-Robots-Tag for unintended AI-extractor blocks, confirm structured data is present in the raw source rather than injected client-side, and review robots.txt access for Google's AI crawl agents.
Passage-level content structuring
We audit whether each key page opens with a self-contained answer in the first 40 to 60 words, whether H2 and H3 headings are in question form for direct extraction, and whether the content passes the "extractable without context" test that AI Overviews apply when synthesising answers.
Entity & authority signals
We review sameAs references against verifiable external records, knowsAbout coverage, datePublished and dateModified on all content, inline source attribution on factual claims, and whether a single canonical Organization node is defined and consistent across all pages.
Structured data for AI parsing
We audit your JSON-LD against the current schema.org vocabulary, check for missing FAQPage markup on pages that answer common questions, and verify that Service schema includes areaServed and availableLanguage where relevant. All checks run against the raw source, not the rendered DOM.
Internal linking & topic cluster health
We map descriptive versus generic anchor text, identify contextual prose links missing between hub and member pages, and flag orphaned content that Google's AI systems cannot connect to your authority on a topic.
Anti-slop content QA
We run a structured human review of AI-assisted content to catch the patterns Google's anti-slop systems flag: vague universal claims without evidence, facts that cannot be verified at a primary source, repetitive phrasing, and outputs that read like unreviewed model drafts.

Recognize yourself?

These are real situations clients come to us with. If even one sounds familiar, the audit will show what to fix.

I still rank but traffic keeps falling
Your Google positions have not moved, but clicks are down. AI Overviews now answer directly above the ranked results for a growing share of queries, and some users never scroll to the links. Ranking is no longer enough on its own.
My content reads fine but Google AI never cites it
You have solid pages, but when Google generates an AI Overview on your topic, it cites competitors or Wikipedia, not you. The problem is usually passage structure: AI needs a self-contained answer in the first 40 to 60 words, not a page that builds to a conclusion.
AI crawlers hit technical debt harder than classic crawlers
Body text loaded by JavaScript, structured data injected client-side, and blocked AI extractors are ignored by Google's AI systems even when your pages rank fine in classic search. These are specific, checkable items, and most sites have at least one.
I bought an "AI SEO" tool and got mass-generated content Google suppresses
Automation without human review produces the undifferentiated, vague output that Google's anti-slop systems are designed to catch and demote. The tool is not the problem. The missing step is a structured human QA pass before anything goes live.
Saturated niche in Warszawa or Kraków and every citation slot matters
In Poland's most competitive local markets, the organic results are locked up by incumbents with years of backlinks. AI Overview citations are an additional channel that rewards content quality and entity clarity over raw domain authority, and it is still early enough to move.
Ukrainian market shrank and every organic click now counts twice
With overall search traffic down significantly since 2022, there is no room to leave Google AI Mode citations unclaimed. Users who get an AI-generated answer that names a competitor may not click further. Appearing in that answer is a direct conversion opportunity.
Russian-speaking audience outside Russia uses Google only, no Yandex fallback
For Russian-language content serving diaspora audiences in the EU, Google AI Mode is the entire search layer. There is no Yandex equivalent in this market. Citation presence in Google's AI results is not optional for this audience, it is the channel.
Nobody can tell me whether anything moved after we made changes
Without a pre-work baseline measuring which queries trigger AI Overviews, whether you are cited in them, and what your citation share is, there is no way to know if the work did anything. This audit establishes that baseline and re-measures after implementation.

Is this audit right for you?

This audit is for you if:

  • You still rank, but clicks keep shrinking while AI Overviews answer above your listings
  • Your content is solid, yet Google's AI cites competitors or Wikipedia instead of you
  • You want a fixed-scope report your own team can implement, with no retainer attached
  • You publish in English, Polish, Ukrainian, or Russian and want the checks done in your market's language

This audit is NOT for you if:

  • You want mass AI-generated pages: that is exactly the pattern Google's anti-slop systems demote, and we do not build it
  • You expect guaranteed placement in AI Overviews: nobody outside Google can promise that, so we do not
  • You want to be recommended inside ChatGPT or Perplexity: that is the assistant side, covered by a separate audit

Assistant-side visibility is a different channel with its own signals. See the AI Visibility Audit.

Which audit covers which surface?

Three related services, three different layers of search. This table is the boundary between them.

Classic SEO Site Audit vs AI SEO Audit vs AI Visibility / GEO
SEO Site Audit AI SEO Audit (this page) AI Visibility / GEO
Surface covered Classic Google results: the ranked blue links Google AI Overviews and AI Mode AI assistants: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini chat, Copilot
Deliverable Full technical and on-page health audit with a fix roadmap Citation-readiness audit: rendering, passage structure, entity and schema signals, anti-slop QA Visibility measurement across assistants plus a step-by-step plan
When to choose it Traffic dropped, or the site has never been audited You rank, but Google's AI answers above you without citing you You want to be named when people ask an assistant for recommendations
What it does not do Does not check AI citation signals Does not cover assistant-side visibility or replace a full technical audit Does not cover Google rankings or AI Overviews

Classic site health lives in the SEO Site Audit; being named inside assistants lives in the AI Visibility / GEO cluster. This page covers the layer in between: Google's own AI results.

Why a one-time audit instead of a retainer?

Most of the agencies we reviewed sell AI SEO only as a monthly retainer. A retainer fits ongoing content production; it fits diagnosis poorly. This audit is a fixed-scope deliverable you own outright: a written report, a prioritized fix list, and a recorded baseline to re-measure against. Implement it yourself, with your team, or with any contractor. If you want hands-on help afterwards, Technical SEO covers the technical remediation and On-Page SEO covers page-level rewrites. Both are scoped separately and neither is required.

Will this still matter next year?

We do not predict Google's roadmap. What can be verified today: Google reported AI Overviews serving more than 2 billion queries a month (Alphabet Q2 2025) and continues expanding AI Mode (Google I/O 2026). Just as relevant, every fix in this audit, from rendering to passage structure to entity-grade schema, also strengthens classic rankings. If the AI surface changes shape, nothing in the work is wasted.

Last reviewed: July 2026

What does this look like in practice?

A typical starting point: a services site ranks on page one for its core queries, yet the AI Overviews above those results cite two competitors and a Wikipedia article. The audit starts with rendering, and the body text turns out to load through JavaScript, so extractors see a nearly empty page. Passage review comes next: key pages open with warm-up copy instead of an answer, and the useful part sits far below the fold. Structured data exists but is injected client-side, invisible in the raw source. The report ranks all of it: rendering first, then opening passages on the most valuable pages, then schema in the raw HTML. After implementation we re-run the same baseline queries and compare who gets cited, so the outcome is checked against a recorded starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is AI SEO and how is it different from regular SEO? +
Regular SEO is about ranking in Google's blue links. AI SEO focuses on the layer that sits on top of those links now: Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, which synthesise answers from multiple sources and often replace a click entirely. The technical and content signals that earn a citation in those answers overlap with classic SEO but are not identical. Self-contained passage structure, entity-grade schema, and inline source attribution matter more here than raw link counts. You need both, but they are distinct work.
How is this different from your AI Visibility / GEO service? +
The AI Visibility and GEO services on this site are about getting named inside AI assistants: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini chat. That is a separate channel with its own measurement, share of voice across assistants, and its own signals. This service is Google-side: ranking in classic results AND earning citations inside Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. If you want to appear in ChatGPT answers, that is the GEO cluster. If you want to appear in Google's AI-generated results, this is the right page.
Will optimizing for AI Overviews hurt my normal Google rankings? +
No, and this is worth saying clearly. The changes involved, tighter passage structure, cleaner entity markup, better internal linking with descriptive anchors, and verifiable source attribution, are things Google's classic ranking systems reward too. There is one genuine tension worth acknowledging: very long self-contained answers that make it easy for AI Overviews to cite you can sometimes reduce click-through, because the answer appears without anyone visiting your page. We flag that trade-off honestly so you decide how far to take it.
Why am I losing traffic even though my rankings didn't drop? +
Because AI Overviews now appear above the ranked results for a growing share of informational queries, and Google's own data (Alphabet Q2 2025) shows AI Overviews serving over 2 billion queries a month. When the AI answer is good enough, some users do not scroll to the links at all. Your position may be unchanged while the traffic that position used to deliver shrinks. The question shifts from "do I rank?" to "does Google's AI cite me when it answers this query?"
Do I need AI SEO if I already do technical SEO? +
Possibly, depending on what your technical SEO covers. Classic technical SEO catches crawl errors, speed issues, and duplicate content. AI-era foundations add specific concerns on top: whether your body text is in the raw HTML before JavaScript runs, whether AI extractors can access your content, whether your structured data is present in the raw source (not injected client-side), and whether your schema uses the current schema.org vocabulary at the passage level. These are checkable things, and many sites with solid classic SEO have gaps here.
Can you get me into Google's AI Overviews or AI Mode? +
We can remove the verifiable blockers that keep you out, restructure content to match documented passage-extraction patterns, and correct entity signals that confuse Google about who you are. Whether any specific query ends up citing you is Google's call, and we will not claim otherwise. What we can do is show you where you stand before and after, so the change is measurable rather than a matter of trust. Structure and inline citations correlate with higher AI citation rates, per the Princeton GEO research published at KDD 2024, but that is a directional finding, not a per-client guarantee.
Does using AI to write content get my site penalized? +
Google's stated position is that it does not penalise AI-assisted content as such. What it does penalise is low-quality, undifferentiated content at scale, sometimes called "AI slop", which lacks genuine expertise, factual verification, and original analysis. The origin of the words matters less than whether the result adds something real. Our content QA step exists precisely to catch the patterns Google's anti-slop systems flag: vague universal claims, factual errors, repetitive phrasing, and outputs that read like prompts fed directly to a model with nothing added.
How do you avoid the "AI slop" that Google suppresses? +
By treating AI-assisted content as a first draft, not a finished product. We run a structured review: fact-checking claims against primary sources, verifying that specific numbers are attributed, cutting vague generalities that add no information, and checking for the mechanical phrasing patterns that signal unreviewed model output. Where an expert human voice is available, we use it. The test we apply before anything goes live: does this answer add something a reader could not get from the top ten existing pages on this topic?
How do you measure whether AI SEO worked? +
We set a baseline before any work starts: which queries trigger AI Overviews, whether your site is cited in those overviews, how often (citation share), and whether AI Mode surfaces your content in conversational queries. After implementation, we re-run the same queries and compare. Separately, Google Analytics 4 has had a dedicated AI Assistant channel since 13 May 2026, which records referrals from ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. We look at that alongside Search Console impressions and click-through data, so the before-and-after is in numbers you can verify yourself.
How much does an AI SEO audit cost and what affects the price? +
The audit is a fixed-scope deliverable priced at €199 (Start), €399 (Expert), or €750 (Professional). The tier depends on site size, the number of queries and content pages reviewed, whether we include a competitor comparison, and the depth of the structured data check. We provide the exact quote after a free preliminary check, usually within 24 hours of your request. No retainer required for the audit itself.
How long until I see results? +
Technical fixes, such as correcting structured data or fixing rendering so body text is in the raw HTML, can be indexed within a few weeks. Content restructuring for better passage extraction and entity clarity takes longer to register: typically one to three months before you see a shift in AI Overview citation patterns. We give you a realistic estimate for your specific site after the audit. We do not quote timelines without seeing the actual work involved first.
Does AI SEO work for non-English sites and EU markets, including Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian? +
Yes, and this is an area where most agencies leave a gap. Google AI Overviews and AI Mode are rolling out across European markets and language pairs. For Polish sites, especially in the competitive Warszawa and Kraków niches, structured passage content and entity clarity are often the difference between being cited and being invisible. For Ukrainian sites, where organic traffic dropped sharply over 2022 to 2024 and every click now matters more, AI Overview citations are an additional channel worth securing. For Russian-speaking audiences outside Russia, the audience is Google-only with no Yandex alternative, so Google AI Mode coverage is the entire game. We work in EN, UK, RU, and PL. CyberLab.Team is registered in Estonia and operates under GDPR, so your data stays within the EU legal framework.
Do you need access to my site or Search Console? +
For the audit, read-only access to Google Search Console and Google Analytics is what moves the needle most. Search Console shows which queries you appear for and where AI Overviews are already triggering on those terms. Analytics shows whether AI-referral traffic already exists. For the technical checks, we can do a significant portion from the public-facing HTML, but CMS or staging access lets us inspect the raw source before JavaScript runs, which is relevant for the rendering check. We tell you exactly what we need after the initial call, and we do not ask for access we will not use.
What is the difference between this and your SEO Site Audit, and which should I buy? +
The SEO Site Audit covers the full classic technical and on-page health of your site: crawlability, speed, Core Web Vitals, backlink profile, meta tags, penalty detection. It is the right starting point if you have never audited your site or if traffic dropped and you need a broad diagnosis. This AI SEO audit focuses specifically on the additional layer that classic SEO does not cover: AI-era rendering checks, passage-level content structure for AI Overviews, entity and schema signals at the level AI parsers need, and anti-slop content QA. If your classic technical SEO is already solid, start here. If you are not sure, the free preliminary check will tell you which is more urgent.
What happens after the audit? Do you implement the fixes? +
The report is written so your team or your developer can implement it directly: a prioritized fix list with an effort estimate per item, plus rewrite examples for your actual pages. There is no obligation to order anything else from us, and no retainer is ever required. If you do want hands-on help, that is scoped separately: our Technical SEO service covers technical remediation and our On-Page SEO service covers page-level rewrites. Professional-tier clients also get 30 days of implementation Q&A.
Are AI Overviews just a temporary feature Google might drop? +
We do not predict Google's roadmap, and we distrust anyone who claims to. What can be verified: Google reported AI Overviews serving over 2 billion queries a month (Alphabet Q2 2025) and continues expanding AI Mode (Google I/O 2026). Just as important, every item in this audit, from cleaner rendering to tighter passage structure and entity-grade schema, also strengthens classic rankings. If the AI surface changes shape, the work is not wasted.
What exactly does the free preliminary check include? +
Three concrete things. A rendering spot-check: does your body text survive without JavaScript? One live AI Overview check on a query you care about: does Google's AI answer it, and who gets cited today? And a tier recommendation, so you do not pay for scope you do not need. No payment details are required, and sometimes the honest conclusion is that you do not need the paid audit yet. If so, we say that.
Do you show which competitors Google's AI cites instead of me? +
Yes, at the Expert tier and up. The baseline compares you against three competitors: we record which domains Google AI Overviews cite for your target queries, how often, and where the gap sits. That shows whether the problem is passage structure, entity clarity, or missing topical coverage. What we do not promise is that you will displace them. The citation choice is Google's, and the baseline exists so progress can be measured against a recorded starting point.
Is my site too small for this audit? +
No. The Start tier is scoped for single-domain sites up to roughly 150 pages, which covers most SMB sites. Most of the agencies we reviewed sell AI SEO only as a monthly retainer sized for large brands, which prices small sites out of the work entirely. A fixed-scope audit is the accessible way in, and small sites often need fewer fixes to become extractable because there is less legacy content to restructure.
