Development

LMS development for courses and training

A learning management system (LMS) is where learners take your courses and instructors follow their progress. We start with how you teach and what counts as completing a course. Then we check whether a ready LMS fits or you need custom development.

Price on request · reply within one working day

A learning path people can follow: from enrollment to the completion rules you set.

A plan built around your courses: platform setup, imports and custom features each shown as its own line.

A handover for administrators: course management instructions and the accounts in your name.

What you get

At handover you have:

  • A course structure with clear enrollment and completion rules.
  • Access roles for learners, instructors and administrators.
  • Lessons and assignments entered or imported within the estimate.
  • Progress records and the reports your administrators need.
  • The connections included in the estimate, tested with sample learner records.
  • Checks of the learning path and instructions for running the platform.

Individual learning paths, group assignments and learner support are added only when your teaching needs them. Public course pages can have search preparation and GA4 inquiry events; lessons behind sign-in stay separate from those marketing pages.

What the cost depends on

We estimate from a real course and the work your administrators do around it.

  • Whether a ready LMS fits or a custom platform is needed.
  • Lesson formats and the state of the teaching materials.
  • Enrollment rules and different user roles.
  • Assignments, assessment and how completion is recorded.
  • Course imports and whether past progress must move too.
  • Connections to payment, identity or staff systems.
  • Administrator training and the support you need after launch.

Hosting, platform licenses and outside service fees are billed apart from our work. Creating course content is separate from building the platform. If the teaching process changes, we update the estimate before building new features.

We answer every inquiry within one working day. The schedule depends on course readiness, import checks and your review of the learning flow.

The custom code and platform accounts stay yours. If the platform uses licensed components, we list them with their terms at handover. We also document who manages enrollment and who handles technical issues. We involve the specialists the platform needs, ours or contractors we have worked with, and CyberLab answers for the result.

What is included and what is not

Included

  • Mapping the learning process and choosing a platform route.
  • Platform setup or custom features in the estimate.
  • Entering or importing the course material in the estimate.
  • Checking learner access, assignments and progress records.
  • Administrator training and a technical handover.

Not included

  • Writing lessons, recording videos and designing the curriculum.
  • Teaching, grading and answering learners' subject questions.
  • Fixing source course files beyond the planned import work.
  • A separate mobile app and features the platform does not cover.
  • Hosting, ongoing maintenance and marketing.

You approve the teaching content and assessment rules.

When you need this

  • Courses and learner records live in separate tools.
  • Instructors cannot tell who has finished the required work.
  • Different learner groups need different access.
  • An existing platform cannot support a specific teaching workflow.
  • You need to move courses while preserving the records that matter.

How the work goes

What you have after each step

  1. Step 1. Walk through a course

You get a map from enrollment to completion and a platform recommendation. You bring a sample course and explain how instructors assess work.

  2. Step 2. Define access and records

You get the course structure, roles and import plan. You confirm what counts as progress and which historical records must stay available.

  3. Step 3. Set up and check the platform

You get a test environment with sample course material. We check access restrictions and learning records. Your instructors try the assignment and assessment flow.

  4. Step 4. Move courses and train administrators

You get import check results, instructions and the operating handover. You review course completeness and approve access for learners. Administrators practice everyday tasks before taking over.

How we can work together

Pick the form that fits the task. We suggest one after the first conversation.

  • Consultation or audit

For when you want a second opinion on a plan, a system or a quote before you commit. You get a written review with recommendations and an estimate of the next step.

  • Fixed-scope project

This works when the requirements can be written down before work starts. You get the agreed scope for the agreed price. Anything new goes through an updated estimate first.

  • Time and materials

For when the scope will change as you learn, as with research or a new product. You pay for the time spent, and we review the plan with you as the work goes.

  • Support after launch

Your system is already live and needs updates, fixes and monitoring. We agree a monthly arrangement and a list of what it covers.

Platforms and tools we work with

Moodle, or a custom platform on Laravel or Node.js with a React or Vue interface.

We choose the platform from the task, and the list shows what we use most often.

Who this is for, and when it is too early

The usual fit is a training provider or a business with a defined learning program and someone responsible for its content. It is too early to build a full platform if the curriculum and completion rules are still undecided.

If a standard LMS covers enrollment and assessment, setup may be enough. If you only need to describe courses and receive inquiries, website development may cover the job.

A ready LMS or a custom learning platform?

OptionWhen it fitsWhat to settle first
A ready LMS, such as Moodle, a widely used open-source LMS that you host yourself or with a hosting providerIts course and assessment model fits how you teachRequired plugins, editing needs and the effort to maintain the setup
A custom learning platformA defined learning process cannot be handled well with standard featuresThe missing workflow, course migration and responsibility for future changes

Working with clients in other countries

  • Contract and NDA. You sign a contract with CyberLab.Team OÜ, a company registered in Estonia, before work starts. If you need an NDA, we sign it before you share confidential data.
  • Invoices in euros. We invoice in euros from an EU company with a VAT number.
  • Languages. We work in English, Ukrainian, Russian and Polish.
  • Calls and replies. We hold calls at hours agreed with you and reply to messages within one working day.

Frequently asked questions

Choosing the platform

When is Moodle enough for our courses?
When its course structure and assessment options fit your teaching process. We compare those needs with a sample course before proposing custom work.
What would justify a custom LMS?
A concrete workflow the ready options cannot handle well. We describe that gap first so you can compare its development and maintenance cost with changing the process.
Do learners need a separate mobile app?
Not necessarily. We first check the learning path in a phone browser. A separate app is additional work, justified by what learners need to do away from their desks.

Courses and access

Can instructors review submitted assignments?
That can be included in the estimate. You define who reviews the work, what feedback learners receive and whether they can submit it again.
Can different groups follow different learning paths?
Yes, when the platform route supports the rules you need. We define group access and course prerequisites before including them in the estimate.
Can course materials be made impossible to copy?
No. Access controls decide who opens a lesson, and someone with access can still copy it.

Migration and records

Will old completion records move with the courses?
Only after we check what the old platform can export and the new one can retain. The import plan names the records that move and any history that must stay in an archive.
How do you check that a migrated course is complete?
We compare its lessons, files and assessment rules with the source. Your course owner reviews the result, including links and activities that an automatic import may miss.
Can enrollment use an existing staff or payment system?
We check the connection and the access rule first. The estimate states what grants access and what happens when the source system withdraws it or stops responding.

Running the platform

What does administrator training cover?
The everyday tasks in your setup, such as enrolling a learner, publishing a lesson and correcting access. Administrators try the tasks themselves using the handover instructions.
Who answers questions about a lesson?
Your instructors handle subject questions and assessment decisions. Technical support for platform problems is a separate responsibility, recorded before launch.
Can we launch with only part of the course library?
Yes, if those courses form a complete learning path. We define what launches first and before each later import we check that current learners' progress is not overwritten.
